         SAN MIGUEL, MANILA – To safeguard, preserve and promote the Filipino language and culture, Sorsogon State College (SSC) and Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino (KWF) signed a memorandum of understanding last July 27, 2018 for the establishment of a Sentro ng
Wika at Kultura (SWK) at SSC.
       Representing the College in this important event was the College President, Dr. Helen R. Lara. Together with Dr. Lara were SSC former Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Magdalena M. Ocbian and SSC Professor and SWK Director Dr. Felisa D. Marbella. Meanwhile, KWF was represented by its chairman, Dr. Virgilio S. Almario together with the other members of the commission including Dr. Purificacion G. Delima.
      The Sentro ng Wika at Kultura of the College is expected to organize activities

for the promotion of the Filipino language and culture; spearhead provincial and regional events; conduct research and seminars with themes along language and culture; strengthen linkage with organizations and institutions within and outside the College; support the campaigns of KWF in promoting Filipino language and ensuring the welfare of the teachers specializing in Filipino. Thus, the MOU between SSC and KWF further entails responsibilities of both parties in ensuring that the goals of the establishment of a Sentro ng Wika in the College will be realized.
