SorSU selected by the Nat’l Advisory Council, Nat’l Technical Working Group & the Central Office of the DSWD for the conduct of the Nat’l Advisory Council & Nat’l Technical Working Group Field Visit

The National Advisory Council, National Technical Working Group and the Central Office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) conducted the National Advisory Council and National Technical Working Group Field Visit on April 24, 2024 at the SorSU E-Library.

The meeting formally commenced with opening remarks from Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (Vice President for Academic Affairs), followed by the introduction of guests from different national government agencies.

The primary objective of the meeting was to determine the needs and gaps in the implementation of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). Moreover, it sought to address concerns regarding the execution of the Tertiary Education Support for 4Ps beneficiaries under the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education (UAQTE) Programs. Additionally, the meeting delved into the potential implications of discontinuing the Senior High School Program for Academic Year 2024-2025.

Ms. Marinel D. Soriano (Head, Scholarship and Financial Assistance Service Unit) of SorSU, provided a comprehensive data on the UAQTE beneficiaries under the 4Ps program.

Similarly, Prof. Maria Flora J. Renovalles (Department Head, Laboratory High School), delivered a comprehensive presentation of 4Ps voucher program for Senior High School. She also elucidated on the challenges faced by the 4Ps grantees.

Present during the meeting were Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, Sorsogon City Campus) and other distinguished guests from various government agencies, including the Department of Education, Department of Health, Department of Agriculture, Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Commission on Higher Education and National Anti-Poverty Commission.
