A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed between Sorsogon State University (SorSU), Cabid-an LGU, DTI-Sorsogon and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) on February 23, 2024, officially marking a new chapter of collaboration for a transformative entrepreneurial journey.
A conduit for this partnership is the steadfast commitment of Sorsogon State University (SorSU) in opening local linkages opportunities to give technical trainings to individuals.
The partnership is an excellent preparation for enhancing growth mindset and entrepreneurship development. Ms. Maria Cristina B. Ditan, SorSU faculty and Project Leader of the Extension Project for Business Formation, Organization and Management, emphasized that the overarching goals of the program are to promote entrepreneurship, establish social enterprise and empower individuals to take on economic challenges.
She said her bigger vision is to replicate the NegosyanTEK program in other barangays and create a Technohub in Sorsogon to assist the LGUs in reducing the unemployment and underemployment rate in the province of Sorsogon.
SorSU is committed in acting proactively to equip individuals with the necessary skills they need to succeed in life. In her commitment message, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, SUC President III, said the dynamic interplay and support of the academia and the government agencies will result in transformative innovations.
The four (4) parties reaffirmed their commitment to forge ahead with their partnership and engage in collaborative ventures in the future which led to the commencement of the Memorandum of Agreement signing between Sorsogon State University, Cabid-an LGU, DTI-Sorsogon and TESDA.
The MOA signing was fully supported by key officials of SorSU, Ma. Lourdes D. Pancho, DTI Provincial Director, Hon. Sammy R. Realuyo, Barangay Captain, Benedick M. Uy, Barangay Focal Person for NegosyanTEK, along with the barangay council of Barangay Cabid-an, Sorsogon City, and other stakeholders.
Wrapping up the ceremony, Dr. Orlando D. Doncillo, Dean of the College of Technology (COT), gave his closing message leaving a hopeful note that the partnership will strengthen collaboration to support sustainable development. With the focus on developing technical and entrepreneurial skills, individuals will be prepared to survive and thrive in a fast-changing world. (SorSU PIO)
