SorSU inks MOA with DOST Metals Industry Research & Development Center, Talaytayan MLE Inc. & DA

The Sorsogon State University hosted a landmark Memoranda of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony with DOST Metals Industry Research and Development Center, Talaytayan MLE Inc., and the Department of Agriculture Regional Office V on May 23, 2024 at the SorSU E-Library.
The event commenced with welcome remarks from Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, Sorsogon City). This was followed by an overview of the activity, providing attendees with an understanding of the purpose of the partnerships forged.

Dr. Catherine A. De Castro (Director, Planning Management Office) delivered a message which laid the foundation for the formal signing of the MOA between SorSU and the DOST Metals Industry Research and Development Center. The partnership with DOST was solidified with signatures from Engr. Robert O. Dizon (Executive Director-MIRDC), Ms. Patricia D. Andes (SRSI/DOST-PSTO Sorsogon) and Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus.

The signing ceremony continued with a MOA between the university and Talaytayan MLE Inc., underscoring the transformative power of education. Dr. Ana Cristina G. Fortes (Director, Extension and Training) emphasized the significance of this partnership in driving positive change. Signatories Dr. Ricardo M. Nolasco (Founding Chair, Talaytayan MLE Inc./UP) and Dr. Antonio Igcalinos laid the groundwork for collaborative efforts in educational empowerment.

Moreover, Ms. Jezzabie G. Gamis (Head, Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management) facilitated the signing of a MOA between SorSU and the Department of Agriculture Regional Office V.

The significance of the event was further emphasized by the Statement of Commitment delivered by SUC President III Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus. She remarked, “I would like to thank our new partner institutions and their representatives for visiting our Pamantasan and formalizing our collaborative enterprises through this simultaneous signing of separate Memoranda of Agreement. I affirm the solid commitment of our university to these undertakings. With optimism, I am sure that these will bring new opportunities for growth not only for our institution but also to Sorsogon and our stakeholders.”

Statements of Commitment by Engr. Robert O. Dizon (DOST Metals Industry Research and Development Center) Dr. Ricardo M. Nolasco (Talaytayan MLE Inc.) and Mr. Pedro F. Oliver (Department of Agriculture Regional Office V) underscored their unified resolve to uphold the terms outlined in the MOA.

Present at the event were Dr. Francisco Datar, Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (Vice President for Academic Affairs), Dr. Susan S. Janer (Dean, Graduate School), Engr. Ivy Rose B. Gonzales (Director, Research and Development) and other SorSU key officials. The ceremony concluded with a closing message from Dr. Ryan V.
