Castilla, Sorsogon — September 12, 2024, a dynamic and empowering atmosphere filled the Farmers Training Center Hall on September 12, 2024, as the Animal Science Students Organization (ASSO) of Sorsogon State University’s College of Agriculture, Castilla Campus, gathered for its much-anticipated General Assembly. The event, which ran from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM, provided a vital opportunity for students and faculty alike to align their efforts and chart the course for the year ahead.
The assembly began with an energetic registration, followed by a solemn opening prayer led by the ASSO Secretariat. In lieu of ASSO Adviser Dr. Rose Anne Cleotilde I. Sambo, Mrs. Melody Llabres, SorSU Castilla Student Development Services Coordinator, delivered an inspiring keynote message. She emphasized the importance of collective responsibility, teamwork, and perseverance as driving forces behind the department’s continued pursuit of academic and agricultural excellence.
The core of the assembly focused on the President’s and Treasurer’s reports, which meticulously outlined the organization’s achievements, ongoing initiatives, and the financial status of the department. Key agenda items included the upcoming election of new officers for the Sorsogon State University-College of Agriculture Council (SorSU-CC), a pivotal moment for the future leadership of the organization. Furthermore, students engaged in discussions regarding the re-accreditation requirements for the department, which are crucial for maintaining the high standards of the Animal Science program.
The agenda also covered practical matters such as membership fees and an overview of the department’s calendar of activities. From workshops to seminars, the students are in for a year of exciting opportunities to grow academically, professionally, and socially within the agricultural sciences.
In a rousing call to action, ASSO President Ms. Mary Ann Martinez delivered heartfelt closing remarks, encouraging all students to remain actively involved in the organization and the department’s future endeavors.
