To formally welcome and orient the new Graduate School students as well as the returning GS SorSUeños on University policies and guidelines, the Sorsogon State University – Graduate School conducted a one-day student orientation on 02 September 2023, at the SorSU Audio-Visual Hall, Sorsogon City Campus.
The orientation began with the welcome remarks of Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (VP on Academic Affairs). Dr. Ricafort remarked that the Graduate students, “𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 [𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳] 𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘰 [𝘵𝘩𝘦] 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺. 𝘚𝘰𝘳𝘚𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯. Likewise, in her inspirational message, SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. Afterward, Dr. Ritzelda A. Deri (GS Coordinator, SDS, Program Chair-MAED, PhD MathEd) acknowledged the Graduate School Students per Program while Dr. Susan S. Janer (Graduate School Dean) presented the regular and part-time GS Faculty and discussed the GS Policies. Also included in the orientation were the presentation of the services provided by the Office of the Library and the Registrar’s Office headed by Mrs. Erlinda P. Enguerra and Dr. Maria Lourdes G. Barrozo, respectively.
Moreover, the 2022-2024 Supreme Student Government officers led by Ms. Myrna D. Leoncito (SSG President-MAM PA), Mr. Louie Cabrera, Jr. (SSG Vice-President-MaEd English), Mr. Leomar P. Roda (SSG Secretary-MAM AS), Mr. Junie R. Miguela (SSG Treasurer-MaEd Science), Mr. Alex P. Furio (SSG Auditor-PhD Math), Mr. Miguel S. Pelecia (SSG PIO-MaEd Filipino), and the SSG Board of Directors, Mr. Deonie J. Mangampo (MAT THE) and Ms. Jamie Anne T. Dollentas (EdDLM) were also presented. Ms. Leoncito provided a brief report on the various activities conducted by the SSG last 2022 which include the PaliGSahan 2022, the Consultative Meeting and the support provided to the Research Colloquium 2023 organized by the Graduate School. The Open Forum moderated by Dr. Sherill A. Gilbas (Program Chair-PHDLE) followed afterward, with questions on preferred mode of classes (online/modular) raised and answered. Dr. Gerry S. Digo (Program Chair-EdDLM, MAM-AS, MED) gave the closing remarks.
