Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) benchmarks SorSU’s best practices in Learning Management System, Quality Assurance, Instructional Materials, SPMS, other exemplary areas

Led by SUC President III, Dr. Victor C. Canezo, Jr., together with BiPSU key officials, Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) delegation embarked on a one-day benchmarking activity at Sorsogon State University (SorSU), which was warmly received by SorSU community under the leadership of SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, held today, August 8, 2024, at the SorSU Dormtel, Sorsogon City Campus.

In her welcome remarks, SorSU President De Jesus emphasized the significance and benefit of benchmarking between and among SUCs, noting that universities have their respective best practices to share or offer and, at the same time, areas for improvement where they may gain insights and receive expertise from others.


Meanwhile, BiPSU President Canezo, Jr., expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the academe for its gracious welcome and accommodation to the delegation. The BiPSU President also underscored in his message that the purpose of their visit is to benchmark with people, highlighting the impact of forging notable partnerships and collaborations with other SUCs like SorSU — a promising university under the helm of Dr. De Jesus, according to the BiPSU President. He added, “I hope that [in] some way or another, we will learn from each other.”


Dr. Leny D. Berdin (Chief Administrative Officer-Finance Division), Dr. Errol G. De Castro (Head, Program & Institutional Accreditation), Prof. Roberto V. Guides (Director, Management Information System Office), and Dr. Viven L. Chua (Director, International Relations Office) showcased SorSU’s best practices and processes along with Strategic Performance and Management System (SPMS), Quality Assurance, Learning Management System (LMS), as well as academic and administrative-related top-notch approaches (such as in development & utilization of Instructional Materials), respectively. IRO Director Chua also shared the University’s other exemplary practices and initiatives, including its one-day simultaneous College Admission Test (CAT), SorSU-ROTC, Issuance of Diploma/TOR, CoTEDM’s accomplishments, DRRM, incentives relative to research publications/technology innovations, and others.


Afterward, an open forum followed, where SorSU, in return, inquired about BiPSU’s efforts and undertakings in reference to its various noteworthy international university rankings.


Together with Dr. Chua and Ms. Myrna D. Leoncito (Director, Public Information Office), the BiPSU team likewise visited the SorSU-Sorsogon City Extension Campus (College of Engineering), SorSU’s library and some of Sorsogon City’s most popular tourist destinations. Further, prior to the benchmarking proper, the visitors held a courtesy call to SorSU President De Jesus at the Office of the President.
