Sorsogon State University Castilla Campus marked a significant milestone on June 9, 2024, with the groundbreaking ceremony for its new Administration Building. The event, held at the Farmers Training Center AV Hall, was filled with anticipation and enthusiasm, signaling the beginning of a transformative era for the institution.
The ceremony commenced with the opening remarks from Mr. Gerald E. Fulay, SorSU Vice President for Administration and Finance, This was followed by heartfelt messages and well wishes from Hon. Alvin Camacho;Punong Barangay of LGU Mayon, Castilla; Mr. Reynaldo Marchan, Sangguniang Bayan Secretary of the Municipality of Castilla; and an inspirational address by Hon. Marie Bernadette “Dette” G. Escudero, Representative of the 1st District of Sorsogon. Hon. Escudero’s address resonated deeply with the audience, motivating and inspiring students to aspire for excellence and pursue their dreams.
Following the speeches, students, faculty, staff, university officials, and esteemed guests made their way to the groundbreaking site. The highlight of the event was the burying of a time capsule, a symbolic act preserving the cherished memorabilias of the SorSU Castilla Community and signifying the commencement of the Administration Building’s construction. This historic moment was led by Prof. Andrew F. Detera; Mr. Gerald E. Fulay ; Hon. Alvin Camacho; Mr. Reynaldo Marchan; and Hon. Marie Bernadette “Dette” G. Escudero.
The event concluded with closing remarks from SorSU Castilla Campus Director Prof. Andrew F. Detera. afterwards, the ceremonial planting of a Pili Tree by Hon.
