Himig SorSUeños Members, led by grand slam champ choral conductor Dr. Constantino, Jr., undergo choral workshop

As part of the yearly development program of the organization aiming to cultivate and advance the choir members’ musical prowess and harmony, the Himig SorSUeños, with 42 members headed by Prof. Edwin J. Balgemino (Musical Director & Choirmaster), are currently undergoing an extensive choral workshop led by the internationally-acclaimed champion choral conductor, Dr. Bienvenido B. Constantino, Jr. (Professor, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University) together with Choirmaster of Southern Leyte State University Choral, Mr. Rene Radaza (Instructor, Southern Leyte State University), from September 20-24, 2023, at SorSU Social Hall, Sorsogon City Campus.

Dr. Constantino is the founder and conductor of the Cordillera Chamber Singers, who have won various national & international competitions (particularly 2 golds and a silver in the 5th Singapore International Choral Festival held in Singapore), as well as the former conductor of the two-time Grand Prix winner, Baguio Voice Chorale (2002-2005, 2009-2018), the official choral group of the University of Baguio. In addition, he served as a regional coordinator of the Philippine Choral Directors Association for Cordillera Administrative Region in 2013-2014.

Meanwhile, after the four-day choral workshop from the invited exemplary choral conductor and choirmaster, the Himig SorSUeños will have their recital on September 24, 2023 (Sunday). The workshop, in addition to cultivating and advancing Himig SorSUeños’ musical prowess and harmony, likewise intends to continually train and prepare the choir for various performances, events, and competitions.
