In relation to this year’s celebration of Mental Health Month, the Office of the Guidance & Counselling Services, in cooperation with the Office of Disaster Risk Reduction & Climate Change, Office of the Health Services, and Office of Gender & Development of SorSU-Bulan Campus collaborated to initiate a Psychological Frist Aid Training and Skills for Psychological Recovery for the faculty, staff, and student leaders on October 16, 2023 in Sta. Magdalena, Sorsogon.

Dr. Marylendra “Neth” Penetrante, a renowned expert from the Children and Youth Wellness Technical and Advocacy Center (CYWTAC), served as the keynote speaker. She shared her expertise on how to effectively provide Psychological First Aid in schools and communities during times of disasters and crises. Dr. Penetrante’s engaging and enjoyable teaching methods not only facilitated learning but also injected an element of fun into the event.

This initiative aligns with the objectives of the Mental Health Act, which seeks to integrate mental health care into basic health services. Moreover, it aims to promote mental health within educational institutions, workplaces, and communities. This event underscores the importance of addressing mental health issues and equipping individuals with the necessary skills to foster well-being and resilience. (SorSU Bulan Campus)
