‘Pista sa Uma’ 2024: Celebrating Sorsogon State University’s 117th Founding Anniversary


In honor of the 117th founding anniversary of Sorsogon State University, the College of Agriculture at SorSu Castilla, in collaboration with the Supreme Student Council and accredited campus organizations, hosted a vibrant student day celebration themed ‘Pista sa Uma’ on May 22, 2024.


The event featured a plethora of activities aimed at strengthening student bonds, fostering camaraderie, and commemorating the rich history and achievements of Pamantasang May Puso. Among the highlights was the ‘Laro ng Lahi,’ which showcased the richness of Filipino culture while promoting physical development. The Agri Race injected excitement and fun into the festivities while integrating agriculture-related topics, challenging teams both physically and mentally. Meanwhile, the Agri Galing tested students’ knowledge in a quiz bee competition covering six major agriculture subjects.


In a display of skill and teamwork, BSA CropSci emerged victorious in both the Laro ng Lahi and Agri Race competitions. In the Agri Galing contest, BSA AgEd claimed the championship title, with BSA CropSci and BSA AnSci securing the first and second runner-up positions, respectively. BAT and BS Agricultural Business clinched the third runner-up title.


Acknowledging excellence beyond competition, BSA AgEd was recognized with the most disciplined team award, while BSA CropSci earned the loudest crowd accolade. BAT and BS AgriBusiness were honored with the most attendees award.


The festivities not only provided a day of enjoyment but also served as a platform for promoting camaraderie, sportsmanship, and collaborative spirit among students. As Sorsogon State University continues to forge ahead, such celebrations serve as a testament to the institution’s vibrant community and commitment to holistic student development.
