Sorsogon State University conducted a Special Board of Regents (BOR) Meeting, today, March 14, 2024 at the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Higher Education Development Center Building, C.P. Garcia Ave, Diliman, Quezon City.
The meeting chaired by CHED Commissioner Dr. Marita R. Canapi was attended by SorSU BOR Members namely SorSU President and Vice Chairperson of the board, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, Hon. Evelina G. Escudero (Representing Hon. Francis Joseph G. Escudero, Chairperson for the Senate Committee on Higher, Technical and Vocational Education), Hon. Achilles G. Honasan (Faculty Federation President), Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (Alumni Federation President), and Hon. Erwin Formento (Student Federation President). Also present in the meeting were CHED Regional Director Atty. Septon A. Dela Cruz, and SorSU Human Resource Management Office Director Prof. Abner L. Dellosa who served as resource persons.
Meanwhile, Congw. Marie Bernadette “Dette” G. Escudero (Representing Hon. Mark O. Go, Chairperson of the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education), Dir. Rommel R. Serrano (Regional Director, Department of Science and Technology ROV), and National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Region V Officer in Charge (OIC) Dir. Edna Cynthia S. Berces were present via online conference.
For this special meeting, the agenda covered fiscal matters alongside the approval of the appointments for the institution. Each item is thoroughly reviewed, evaluated, and provided with corresponding resolution which shall continually benefit and enhance the University in its development.
Furthermore, this marks the first meeting of the SorSU BOR members with Commissioner Canapi, as well as the newly designated NEDA ROV OIC Dir. Berces.
The SorSU BOR is the highest policy-making body of the university whose primary purpose among many is to enact rules and regulations not contrary to law as may be necessary to carry out the purposes and functions of the university. (SorSU PIO)
