In line with its proactive efforts to contribute to the technological advancement of the local communities by providing training to enhance digital literacy skills among LGU employees, Sorsogon State University (SorSU) – Bulan Campus, through its College of Information and Communications Technology (CICT) faculty members, successfully launched its Empowerment of Employees Through Technological Advancement Training (EETTA) extension project for the municipal employees of the Local Government Unit of Matnog (LGU-Matnog) on April 11, 2024, at the Matnog Municipal Building, Matnog, Sorsogon.
The launching activity commenced with opening remarks from Mr. Ubaldo M. Ubaldo (Municipal Administrator, LGU-Matnog), followed by the Statement of Commitment from SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, and the Statement of Support from Hon. Cattleya M. So (Municipal Mayor, LGU-Matnog).
During the event, Mr. Gilbert G. Gile (Extension Coordinator, SorSU-Bulan Campus) highlighted the rationale behind the extension project to the municipal employee-beneficiaries. Moreover, Project Leader Mr. Jay A. Rivera discussed the project overview of faculty extensionists, outlining the training rules as well as the presentation of modules and speakers. Further, the closing message was delivered by Hon. Emilio G. Ubaldo III (Municipal Vice Mayor, LGU-Matnog).
The extension project likewise intends to: (1) Ensure that the beneficiaries can perform fundamental tasks using productivity software, communication tools, computer maintenance, and website development using no code/low code; (2) Develop and deliver accessible and convenient training materials and resources that are tailored to the needs of the employees to enhance their technology proficiency; and (3) Monitor and assess the project’s implementation.
Prof. Ma. Elena C. Demdam (Campus Director, SorSU-Bulan Campus), Dr. Ana Cristina G. Fortes (Director, Extension and Training Services), Engr. Rey C. Rodrigueza (Dean, CICT-Bulan), and SorSU CICT-Bulan faculty members were also present during the event.
