SorSU Castilla Campus conducted the National Service Training Program (NSTP) – Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) Completion Rites at the SorSU Castilla Grounds last June 6, 2023. 

The event was attended by successful CWTS competitors, implementers and guests. To formally begin the activity, a processional of the attendees took place followed by an opening message from SorSU Castilla Campus Administrator Prof. Andrew F. Detera. Afterwards, the program proceeded with the introduction of the Keynote speaker by Ms. Genly Morante-Gonzales. The speaker who is the NSTP Coordinator of SorSU Main Campus, Ms. Mary Rose Lacdang shared an inspiring message where she congratulated the completers and shared her admiration to the perseverance of each student, she said:

“Your completion of the NSTP program is not the end but only the beginning of a bigger responsibility to your respective communities… Be the students who respond to the needs of the community and act as innovators for social change. The spirit of volunteerism must live within you.” Ms. Mary Rose Lacdang, NSTP Coordinator, SorSU Main Campus

The Presentation, Confirmation and Awarding of Certificates to the Completers immediately came next, together with the distribution of Certificates and Special Awards to the completers. A message of Commitment was shared by Ms. Menchie Desalesa of the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Agricultural Education student, followed by the pledge of commitment led by Prof. Achilles Honasan, the SorSU Faculty Regent and the Campus Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Coordinator. This concluded with the closing remarks and the singing of the SorSU Hymn. 

Pursuant to the goals declared in Republic Act 9163 otherwise known as the National Service Training Program Law (NSTP Law), CWTS introduces students to the importance of civic consciousness through participating in community service.
