Sorsogon State University faculty member Mr. Tomas M. Encinares and his dance partner, Ms. Monica E. Barrameda, achieved a remarkable milestone by advancing to the Quarter Finals (Top 24) at both the World Dance Sport Federation (PDSF) Cebu Open 2023 and the Philippine Dance Sport Federation, Inc. (PDSFI) 3rd Quarter Ranking and Competition 2023.
The Grade C Latin event took place on September 30, 2023, at the Grand Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino in Lahug, Cebu City, Philippines. This prestigious competition was attended by DanceSport coaches, athletes, and enthusiasts from around the world.
Competing against 42 other dancers from countries including Italy, Germany, Russia, Australia, China, Japan, and various Southeast Asian nations, Mr. Encinares and Ms. Barrameda demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication. Their impressive performance not only highlights their excellence in DanceSport but also brings honor to the university and elevates the profile of the Philippine DanceSport community on a global scale.
