Advancing its commitment toward raising the bar of quality education and continual improvement of its system, Sorsogon State University (SorSU) is currently undergoing a three-day Level III Phase 2 Online Program Accreditation for its five (5) academic programs under Bulan and Castilla Campuses by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), headed by Dr. Rolito S. Estrellado (AACCUP Overall Coordinator), from November 27-29, 2023, via hybrid mode at the SorSU Board Room (for in-person) and online through Zoom Meeting.
The five curricular offerings under evaluation include the Bachelor of Science in Accounting Information System, Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship, Bachelor of Science in Information Systems, and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from SorSU-Bulan Campus, as well as Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from SorSU-Castilla Campus.
The three-day online program accreditation formally began with welcome remarks from SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, through a video presentation, wherein President De Jesus extended her gratitude to Dr. Rolito S. Estrellado (Overall Coordinator, AACCUP Inc. Team) for answering the call to evaluate some of the university’s programs, as well as Dr. Jenet B. Fuentes (Director, SorSU-Office of the Quality Assurance), Prof. Ma. Elena C. Demdam (Campus Director, SorSU-Bulan Campus), and Prof. Andrew F. Detera (Campus Director, SorSU-Castilla Campus) for preparing meticulously for the survey visit.
Moreover, President De Jesus also emphasized that the purpose of the accreditation survey is to strengthen the programs the university offers its students — by identifying critical areas that can still be improved and developed, as well as through the constructive criticism of the survey teams.
