SorSU joins Unity and Civic Parade; Kasanggayahan Festival 2023 officially begins today

In celebration of the opening of the Kasanggayahan Festival 2023, the Sorsogon State University joined the Unity and Civic Parade today, 8 October 2023, which started at the Sorsogon Sports Complex and converged at the Sorsogon Capitol Park. Provincial Governor, Honorable Edwin “Boboy” Hamor, led the Unity and Civic Parade, together with the local chief executives and personnel from the province of Sorsogon.

SorSU President, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, together with Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort, VP for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Ryan Dio, VP for Research, Extension and Training, as well as the university’s top executives – Dr. Telesforo Escoto (Campus Director-Sorsogon City), Dr. Andrew Detera (Campus Director-Castilla Campus), Prof. Lynn Mendoza (Campus Director-Magallanes), Directors and Unit Heads from various offices, Deans, faculty and staff, enthusiastically participated in the civic parade where numerous local government offices from Sorsogon Province as well as representatives from government agencies, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), the academe and the private sectors were also seen.

The participation of the Sorsogon Marching Band and Majorettes, as well as military and various schools’ bands also added pomp and festivity to the event. This parade marks the beginning of the 10-day celebration of the Kasanggayahan Festival 2023.

Meanwhile, a ‘Concierto sa Kasanggayahan’ and Fireworks display are eagerly awaited by Sorsoganons and will commence at 6:00 PM tonight at the Sorsogon Capitol Park. (SorSU PIO)
