Dio (Vice President for Research, Extension and Training) spearheaded the kick-off of the three-day 6th Sorsogon Research, Development, and Training Conference (SoRDECon) virtually via Zoom Meeting, last March 05, 2024.

The three-day conference formally commenced with the welcome remarks from SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus (via video presentation), where SorSU President De Jesus commended the Office of Research, Extension and Training (SorSU-RET) for their commitment to organizing this year’s SorDECon and their initiative and collective effort to advancing the research and extension capability of the University.

“𝘈𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘥𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺. Moreover, SorSU President De Jesus highlighted that the necessity of showcasing the university’s research and extension initiatives, as exhibited in the list of this year’s completed projects for presentation, is essential not only to highlight its accomplishments but also to disseminate updates on these endeavors within the institution, to the local stakeholders, and even the international academic and scientific community. She expounded, “𝙄𝙣 𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙣, 𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙞𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝙚𝙛𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝙢𝙖𝙮 𝙛𝙪𝙧𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙜𝙪𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙡𝙨𝙤 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙛 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙮 𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥𝙨 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙯𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨. Notably, SUC President IV of the Bicol University, Dr. Baby Boy Benjamin D. Nebres III delivered this year’s SorDECon keynote address, where BU President Nebres III emphasized in his message that SorSU and BU are practically neighbors and allows them to be constant partners. He added, “𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘦’𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘯𝘦𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘴 𝘨𝘦𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺, 𝘸𝘦’𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘯𝘦𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘴 𝘣𝘺 𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯.
