Successful Hybrid Orientation Session Prepares Students for On-The-Job Training at SorSU-CC

The Sorsogon State University- Castilla Campus (SorSU-CC) recently organized a highly informative and interactive Hybrid Orientation Session last December 7,2023, aimed at preparing students and parents for their upcoming On-The-Job Training (OJT). Hosted by the campus ILDO office, this event proved to be a vital step in equipping participants with essential insights into the guidelines and policies surrounding their internships.

The session, which took place at the Farmers Training Center, embraced inclusivity by live-streaming via Zoom to accommodate various stakeholders, ensuring that parents and students could participate regardless of their location.

Distinguished attendees at the event included Professor Andrew F. Detera, SorSU-CC Campus Director; Mr. Jerome B. Gigantoca, SAS Coordinator; Ms. Melody L. Llabres, SorSU-CC ILDO Coordinator; Campus Nurse Ms. Helen L. Sicad; Ms. Ma. Lara C. Grona, Campus Librarian; BAT OIC Chairperson Engr. Charleen Grace V. Deniega; and the event’s resource speaker, Professor Lelanie L. Berjuenga, Head of Career and Job Placement/ILDO of Sorsogon State University.

The event commenced with opening remarks from SorSU-CC Campus Director Prof. Andrew F. Detera, setting the tone for the informative session that followed.

During the orientation, participants delved into a range of crucial topics, including internship policies, guidelines, and requirements, presented by Prof. Berjeunga. Following this, Campus Nurse Ms. Helen L. Sicad provided insights into medical prerequisites for OJT, ensuring that students are well-prepared for any health-related requirements. Ms. Melody L. Llabres, SorSU-CC ILDO Coordinator, shared valuable information about potential cooperating farms and industries for internships, including deployment timelines and requirement deadlines. Furthermore, Ms. Ma. Lara Grona enlightened students about various reference sources for crafting their internship manuscripts.

An open forum allowed parents and students to directly engage with speakers, seeking answers to their queries and clarifications on the OJT program.

The Closing Remarks, delivered by Mr. Jerome B. Gigantoca, SAS Coordinator, officially concluded the program on a positive note.
