SorSU president, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, held a roundtable meeting today, February 14, 2023, with the Sorsogon City Government and the Provincial Government as represented by Mr. Bobby Gigantone (Chief Tourism Officer) and Ms. Joni Asphasia Jao (Tourism Officer) to discuss holistic approaches that will help promote the tourism industry in the province through the international conference, SEAMREEC 2023.
The South East Asian Multidisciplinary Research Expo and Extension Conference (SEAMREEC) 2023, to be held at the Sorsogon Convention Center on March 1 to 4, 2023, is an international conference organized by the university. It provides platforms for researchers and the academe to engage in academic exchanges of scientific knowledge and innovations, as well as practical approaches that encourage stronger partnerships and linkages between HEIs in Southeast Asia. This international event will also highlight the province of Sorsogon as the next best tourist destination.
The three partner agencies, led by Sorsogon City Mayor, Honorable Ester Hamor, the Provincial Governor, Honorable Boboy Hamor, and SorSU President, Dr. De Jesus, continuously strengthen linkages as they formulate strategies in promoting Sorsogon as a travel destination as well as encourage local and international partnerships through SorSU’s initiatives.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Ryan V. Dio (VP for Research, Extension and Training) and Dr. Ana Cristina G. Fortes, (SEAMREEC 2023 Overall Coordinator and Head-Publication and Knowledge Management). (SorSU PIO)
