SorSU-Bulan Campus organizes two-day EmpowerED: Educator Enrichment on SOGIESC and Policy Awareness towards Effective Teaching and Collaborative Working Environment; SorSU President De Jesus extends support
With the aim to foster awareness of the SOGIESC & grievance policies, enhance the teaching strategies of the faculty members, as well as ensure effective and efficient delivery of services of its support personnel, Sorsogon State University – Bulan Campus (SorSU-Bulan Campus) is currently conducting a two-day campuswide event called “EmpowerED: Educator Enrichment on SOGIESC and Policy Awareness towards Effective Teaching and Collaborative Working Environment” from May 30-31, 2024, at the Vida Guest Resort, Monbon, Irosin, Sorsogon.
The two-day activity of Bulan Campus began with an opening message from Prof. Ma. Elena C. Demdam (Campus Director, Bulan Campus), followed by the presentation of the project rationale & objectives and the overview of the activities by Prof. Mark Anthony D. Dipad (Faculty Organization President, Bulan Campus).
Day 1 of the event highlighted the School Year End Report Accomplishment, particularly the accomplishments and direction of CICT and CBME programs by Engr. Rey C. Rodrigueza (Dean, CICT) and Dr. Diana V. Sales (Dean, CBME), respectively, as well as the Faculty Organization Updates matters such as Research, Extension, International Affairs, Students Affairs and Services, Support Services & Frontline Services, and Faculty Organization Updates.
Meanwhile, SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, provided an inspirational message among the faculty and non-teaching attendees of the Bulan Campus, marking the start of the afternoon session.
Moreover, the first day likewise included informative talk sessions on Lecture 1: Anti-Sexual Harassment in the Workplace, and Grievance Policies, Decorum and Ethical Standards by Resource Speaker 1, Atty. Mary Joy C. Bongapat (Attorney IV, SorSU-Legal Unit) and Lecture 2: Developing Healthy Workplace Environment towards Productive Collaborations by Resource Speaker 2, Ms. Michelle De Leoz Moll, as well as Workshop 1 & Synergy Activities and brainstorming/consultative dialogue per department headed by deans/program chairs/unit heads.
On the other hand, Day 2 features Lecture 3: SOGIESC: Gender Awareness and Sensitivity in the Teaching-Learning Process by Prof. Riche P. Duran (Director, SorSU-GAD), followed by Workshop 1: Designing Gender Sensitive Lessons, as well as Lecture 4: Teaching Strategies for Multidiscipline and Diverse Student Needs by Prof. Marigrace D. Carretero (CoTEdM faculty), and Workshop 2: Teaching Strategy Selection and Planning with Demonstration Teaching. (SorSU PIO)
