SorSU-IRO engages students, faculty, other SorSU stakeholders in 2nd Info Session 101: Study Abroad Education Forum 2024 via hybrid platform

With the aim to leverage the internationalization plans on forging international agreement/s and international exchange programs with international University/ies, the Sorsogon State University – International Relations Office (SorSU-IRO), headed by Dr. Vivien L. Chua (Director, SorSU-IRO), in coordination with Academia Advancement Consultancy Services Corporation (AACS), successfully spearheaded its second Info Session 101: Study Abroad Education Forum 2024 with students, faculty, and other stakeholders as participants, held via hybrid format, featuring both in-person attendance at the SorSU Audio-Visual Hall, Sorsogon City Campus and online participation through Zoom Meeting, last June 4, 2024.

Dr. Alfonso L. Garcia, Jr. (Dean, College of Teacher Education and Midwifery), in lieu of Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (Vice President for Academic Affairs), delivered the opening remarks of the activity, where he underscored that the Info Session 101: Study Abroad Education Forum 2024 is a testament to the administration’s shared commitment to guiding students, faculty, researchers, and alumni towards overseas education and global career opportunities.

Similarly, Dr. Vivien L. Chua (Director, SorSU-IRO) emphasized that the event is one of the significant milestones in the history of the academe’s internationalization journey as well as serves as an excellent opportunity to leverage career opportunities and future plans.
This year’s Study Abroad Education Forum highlighted comprehensive info sessions from Ms. Marjorie Jean R. Cohen (Marketing Manager, Academia Advancement Consultancy Services Corporation – Cebu Branch), Ms. Angela Concepcion (International Recruitment Manager, Apply Board), Mr. Jelson Sales (In-Market Representative Philippines and Indonesia, Mohawk College – Canada), as well as featured video presentations of on various Canadian higher education institutions such as Sheridan College, Oxford International – Vancouver, Canada, Ilac International College – Canada, Alexander College, Algoma University, George Brown College, and other Canadian universities.
Afterward, a question-and-answer forum followed, where guest speakers addressed the queries and clarifications from participants. The event concluded with a closing message from Dr. Orlando D. Doncillo (Dean, College of Technology) who represented Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, Sorsogon City Campus).

Moreover, the info session was also graced by Dr. Sitti Shierwina Al-Jumayile (President, AACS), Mr. Ahmad Mi Shaaban (Manager, Bicol Region Operations Head, AACS – Sorsogon City), and Mr. Yazan Al Tamimi (AACS). (SorSU PIO)
