75 newly hired SorSU employees undergo onboarding session

On September 5, 2024, the SorSU-Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRMDO), under the leadership of Prof. Abner L. Dellosa, organized a comprehensive onboarding session for newly hired employees at the SorSU-Dormtel, Sorsogon City Campus. It was designed to familiarize the new hires with university policies, guidelines, and rules while providing insights to ease their integration into the institution’s culture.

The session began with welcome remarks from Dr. Ma. Sylisa J. Estur (Chief, Administrative Officer-Administrative Division). This was followed by a presentation introducing key university officials via AVP. Mr. Kenneth A. Golimlim (Administrative Officer V) acknowledged the new hires, leading to the oath-taking ceremony administered by SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus. Following the ceremony, President De Jesus delivered an inspirational address. In her message, she emphasized that courtesy and respect must be shown to colleagues and fellow workers at the university. She remarked, “We cannot work effectively and efficiently as an organization if divided by conflicting factions and selfish interests. Thus, I expect everyone to render the same respect and cooperation you show to a professor or senior administrative official as to a utility worker, junior aide, or faculty member.”

The program continued with Prof. Dellosa’s discussion on the Code of Conduct for Public Officials and Employees (RA 6713). He provided an overview of ethical standards and regulations governing public service.

Moreover, Prof. Riche Justine P. Duran (Director, Gender & Development) led a discussion on GAD policies, highlighting the university’s commitment to gender equality and inclusion. Mrs. Rosalie D. Labitag (Supervising Administrative Officer-Finance Division) gave an overview of Accounting and Finance Services, emphasizing the importance of fiscal responsibility and resource optimization.

Prof. Dellosa followed with an overview of HRMDO Services, detailing the functions and support services provided by their office, while Ms. Maricar D. Doctor (Administrative Officer V) focused on Compensation and Benefits. Day 1 concluded with Mr. Golimlim and Ms. Elvie D. Deyto discussing Government Working Hours and Leave Laws.

Day 2 covered a range of important topics, including the 2017 Rules on Administrative Cases in the Civil Service (RRACS), ISO Awareness, HR Processes, Safety and Security, and the Policies and Guidelines on Procurement. The event wrapped up with closing remarks from Mr. Gerald E. Fulay (Vice President for Administration and Finance).

The onboarding session was successfully conducted, ensuring that the new employees are well-prepared to contribute effectively in their roles at the university. (SorSU PIO)
