To enhance awareness of the benefits of SSS membership, Sorsogon State University- Industry Linkages and Development Office (SorSU-ILDO), under the leadership of Prof. Lelanie L. Berjuega (Head, Career and Placement Services/ILDO Unit), successfully hosted a seminar focused on the SSS Application Process and the necessary documentation requirements. The seminar took place on October 8-9, 2024, at SorSU Audio-Visual Hall, Sorsogon City Campus, and was conducted in collaboration with the Social Security System (SSS), Sorsogon Branch.
The two-day seminar was attended by fourth-year students from the College of Technology (BT-Automotive Technology, Architectural Drafting, Civil Technology, Garments Technology, Welding & Fabrication, Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, Mechanical Technology) as well as the fourth-year students of Bachelor of Secondary Education, Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Culture and Education, Bachelor of Special Needs, Bachelor of Science in Engineering (CE, EE, & ME), Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship, and Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management.
During the event, students had the chance to learn about a range of Social Security System (SSS) programs, including those related to disability, sickness, maternity, old age, death, as well as other situations that can lead to loss of income. SSS representatives offered insights into the enrollment process and how to make contributions. They also facilitated discussions, addressing common questions and concerns regarding the application process.
Additionally, attendees received guidance on how to obtain an SSS number, which is essential for employment. This collaboration between Sorsogon State University and SSS Sorsogon Branch reflects a strong commitment to student welfare and financial literacy.
