DESIGN THINKING IN EDUCATION: IGNITING INNOVATION AND TRANSFORMATION IN THE 21ST CENTURY LEARNING
Dr. Medardo B. Bombita is a Professor and the Program Head of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration both at the University of Rizal System (URS) and the Centro Escolar University Graduate School. He has the academic rank of Associate Professor V and pending for full – fledged professor II accreditation. He serves as a speaker and trainer concerning leadership, labor-management relations, and personnel administration. He co-authored a history book entitled “Lipunang Pilipino: Kasaysayan at Pamamahala’’ and “Practical Research 2: Quantitative Research” and widely available in all National Book Store outlets. His numerous local, national and international trainings and seminars, awards and recognitions, along with his initiatives throughout his professional career have propelled his home university to pursue greater milestones and new opportunities during his administrative incumbency in various capacities. Dr. Medz enriched his expertise through educational courses by completing an executive development program dubbed Higher Education Career System, Foresight Thinking, and Knowledge Management at the Development Academy of the Philippines, and a fellowship in e-Governance under MTCP of Malaysia. He is an accreditor of higher education institutions, an ISO internal auditor, and a trained assessor of the Philippine Quality Awards (PQA).
REFLECTING ON THE FUTURE(S) OF EDUCATION: INTERSECTING PHILOSOPHICAL AND THEORETICAL PERSPECTIVES THROUGH TEACHER AGENCY
Dr. Louie B. Dasas is well-experienced in instructional planning and design as an author and content editor for science textbooks for various grade levels. He also serves as a speaker and educational consultant for several areas of education, such as curriculum and instruction, assessment, professional development, program evaluation, and STEM education. Dr. Dasas was a DepEd-PEAC National Trainer and a CHED National STEM Adviser. He serves as the National Secretary of the Biology Teachers Association of the Philippines (BIOTA) National Governing Board and an Associate Member of the National Research Council of the Philippines. As a researcher, Louie is interested in curriculum implementation, curriculum studies, teacher agency in curriculum-making, argument-driven inquiry, science education, and STEM education.
Dr. Dasas was the inaugural STEM Chair of the UST Senior High School and a Supervising Teacher for Science at the UST Education High School. At present, he is the Pedagogical Lead and Assistant Dean of the University of Santo Tomas College of Education. Concurrently, he is a Center for Innovative Teaching and Educational Delivery core facilitator and the project lead of the Certificate in Science Teaching program of the College of Education in collaboration with DepEd Pasig.
