With CBSUA QS Task Force as Guest Speakers, SorSU Initiates Orientation Sessions on Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Stars Ratings to its Officials — Plans toward Global Academic Recognition

Advancing the institution’s goal towards global academic recognition along with worldwide higher education ratings, Sorsogon State University (SorSU), with guest speakers from Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) QS Task Force and Times Higher Education Impact Ranking, Dr. Cherry Love B. Montales (Vice-Chair), Dr. Rolando P. Oloteo (Category Leader), & Prof. Josephine A. Red (Category Leader), initiated orientation sessions on Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Stars Ratings to its concerned top executives and officials, held on July 10, 2023, at SorSU Dormtel-Conference Room 2.

As per its 𝘎𝘶𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘋𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴, QS Stars, a university rating system widely-employed by numerous institutions globally, is an in-depth assessment/comprehensive audit of the university’s performance, rating the institution against eight of 13 key categories across four category types: (1) 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚 (Teaching, Employability, Internationalization, Research, and Academic Development); (2) 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (Facilities or Online Learning); (3) 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚 (Arts & Culture, Innovation, Social Responsibility, and Inclusiveness); and (4) 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚 (Program, Strength or Subject Ranking).

With the goal of realizing the University’s steadfast effort on continuous improvement and international recognition, the orientation sessions marked the beginning of SorSU’s endeavor to showcase the University’s strengths on a global scale, thus potentially creating opportunities to attract top talent and forging potential partnerships with leading institutions.
