In a significant step toward fostering global academic collaboration, Sorsogon State University (SorSU) Castilla Campus welcomed two international visiting students from Vietnam’s Kien Giang University (KGU) on September 13, 2024. The visiting students, Mr. Le Nhat Thang and Mr. Đang Đoan Quoc Thang, both junior English language majors from KGU’s Faculty of Foreign Languages, were accompanied by Prof. Aldin Labo and Mr. Jopet Vincent Medalla, faculty members from SorSU Bulan Campus.
The visit began with a warm reception led by BSA Program Chairperson Ms. Jocel D. Batuto, OIC Student Council President Ms. Claire Duazo, and SorSU Castilla Campus Director Prof. Andrew F. Detera. The students were given a guided tour of the campus, which included an introduction to the College of Agriculture, the heart of SorSU’s thriving academic and research environment in agriculture. The tour also included a visit to the International Relations Office, where the guests were welcomed by SorSU Castilla IRO Coordinator, Ms. Mari Anne B. Gojar.
After the tour, Mr. Theo and Mr. Thang attended a Purposive Communication class taught by Mr. Honesto Troi Borromeo III, SorSU Castilla’s Public Information Officer. The KGU students had the opportunity to engage with local students, smoothly integrating into the SorSU Castilla community.
The visit concluded with a meaningful exchange of ideas about the agricultural traditions and cultural practices of both Vietnam and the Philippines. This dialogue sparked enthusiasm for future intercultural exchange initiatives.
