Manifesting participative leadership principles, the Office of the Campus Director, together with the Office of Student Development Services, initiated a meeting with the officers of accredited student organizations to discuss matters relevant to the opening of classes on Monday, August 19, and other activities and updates in the campus.
The meeting centered on the preparations for the first day of classes and the annually held Welcome Day. Likewise, the Office of Gender and Development, with its coordinator Ms. Krishia Lachica, oriented the student leaders on the guidelines relevant to gender and development activities, informing the organizations that the University is willing to provide funds for student activities that align with GAD thrusts and priorities.
Prof. Ma. Elena C. Demdam, SorSU Bulan Campus Director, also informed the student organizations of the two (2) student interns from Kien Giang University in Vietnam who will stay in the campus for a month. The first intern will arrive in the Philippines on August 20. She also encouraged the students to engage in internationalization initiatives of the university.
The student leaders also discussed the activities for the celebration of the Buwan ng Wika and Teachers’ Day. They also agreed on leading the flag-raising ceremony and convocation every Monday.
Mr. Rytzz M. Obsum, Student Development & Services Coordinator, reminded the student organizations of the requirements and the period for re-accreditation. He also tackled additional requirements for submission of project terminal reports in consonance with the changing guidelines of various accrediting bodies.
With these discussions, SorSU-Bulan Campus community hopes for a meaningful, vibrant and safe opening of the new academic year.
