COMELEC Sorsogon City & Sorsogon State University conduct successful Voter Education and ACM Demonstration

As part of COMELEC’s ongoing efforts to educate the public on the use of the Automated Counting Machine (ACM) for the May 2025 National and Local elections, COMELEC Sorsogon City, in partnership with Sorsogon State University Sibika Hub (SorSU-Sibika Hub), conducted a Voter Education and ACM Demonstration on January 31, 2025, at SorSU Audio-Visual Hall, Sorsogon City Campus.

Aimed at familiarizing voters with the new voting technology, the event started with a welcome message from Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, Sorsogon City Campus). Atty. Karla S. Jerrera (City Election Officer IV) followed with a lecture on the Automated Counting Machine (ACM) and demonstrated how it works. Attendees, including students, youth organizations, senior citizens and voters from Barangays Sulucan, Polvorista, Almendras-Cogon, and Salog, participated in a mock election, simulating the voting process with the ACM.

The event concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Catherine A. De Castro (Project Director, SorSU Sibika Hub/Director, Planning Management Office), who emphasized the importance of voter education in the lead-up to the elections. The activity was well-received and successfully educated the public on the use of the ACM in the upcoming elections. (SorSU PIO)
