Last June 3, 2024, the Benguet State University Government Employees Association (BSUGEA) embarked on a benchmarking event graciously hosted by Sorsogon State University – Castilla Campus. The distinguished delegates from BSU were warmly welcomed by SorSU counterparts, including SorSU Faculty Regent Dr. Perry F. Carpio and SorSU Castilla Faculty Organization President Prof. Achilles G. Honasan.
The event commenced with a gracious reception from SorSU Castilla Campus Director, Prof. Andrew F. Detera, who expressed heartfelt appreciation for choosing Sorsogon State University Castilla Campus as the venue for this meaningful benchmarking initiative, underscoring the institution’s unwavering dedication to academic excellence and community engagement.
Dr. Rochele Aragon, the Dean of the College of Agriculture, provided a comprehensive overview of the diverse academic programs offered at SorSU Castilla, ranging from Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness and the proposed new program offerings of the campus namely: Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Biosystems Engineering and Bachelor in Technical-Vocational Teacher Education.
Moreover, Extension and Training Coordinator Ms. Ira M. Habla, Research and Development Coordinator Mr. Brian J. Buenaobra, and International Relations Office Coordinator Ms. Mari Anne B. Gojar shed light on the extensive partnerships and international initiatives that SorSU Castilla actively fosters, nurturing a collaborative environment with local agricultural cooperatives, international universities, and government agencies.
In addition to enlightening discussions, delegates were treated to a comprehensive tour of the campus facilities, facilitating interactive dialogues on administrative practices, faculty development, and student services.
This exchange of ideas significantly enriched the platform for learning and innovation within the academic community, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
