The Publication and Knowledge Management Unit once again led a capacity-building activity for SorSU faculty researchers titled “Preparing Research Manuscripts for Publication”, held on December 14-15, 2023 at The Clover Leaf Place, Cabid-an Sorsogon City. This event offered a crucial platform for researchers and scholars to navigate the intricacies of publishing.
The first session included an in-depth exploration of selecting reputable journals for publication, accompanied by an engaging Q&A/Open Forum led by Dr. Aaron Funa. After a productive workshop and a lunch break, the afternoon featured a session on manuscript formatting based on journal guidelines, highlighting practical skills crucial for successful publication. Dr. Susan F. Astillero delivered a compelling presentation during this session.
Day 2 began with an insightful exploration of navigating the journal publication process by Dr. Sherill A. Gilbas. The day continued with best practices in handling reviewers’ comments, concluding with a Q&A/Open Forum led once again by Dr. Aaron Funa. The event concluded with participants presenting outputs in which Dr. Ryan V. Dio, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training, gave some comments and suggestions for improvement; a closing program featuring insights; and closing remarks by Ms. Frances Grace J. Jetomo, PKM Head.
The event proved to be a valuable experience, fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and practical skills development in academic publishing. It received positive reviews from participants who benefited from one-on-one sessions with the speakers and engaged with fellow well-published colleagues. (OVPRET-PKM)
