In line with forging international ties with academic institutions along student internship programs, I-MEI Food Corporation, a Taiwanese Employer-Corporation, represented by Ms. Chia Yi Lin (I-MEI HR Specialist), Ms. Sophia Wu (I-MEI GM Office HR Manager), and Mr. Jack Cheng (President of Taiwan News), together with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) personnel, headed by Atty. Jeena P. Paclibar-Laceda (OIC-Regional Director, DMW ROV-Legazpi City) paid a courtesy visit to Sorsogon State University (SorSU) top executives and successfully engaged in an exploratory meeting on April 26, 2024, at the SorSU Office of the President, Sorsogon City Campus.
The exploratory meeting discussed and delved into potential opportunities, support, and initial guidelines for student internship/on-the-job training (OJT) programs, specifically for Bachelor of Technology (BT) students. The meeting was intended to explore how a global partnership could be established that would mutually benefit both the corporation as well as the academic community/students.
I-MEI Food Corporation seeks to look into the teaching/training competence of universities, and at the same time, their supply-side capability to provide expertise in welding, shielded metal arc welding, air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical engineering, and other related disciplines.
In reference, I-MEI Food Corporation, founded in 1934, is a long-time partner of the Philippines through the government-to-government program and one of the leading employers of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
