Demonstrating the University administration’s resolute pledge in alignment to fostering progressive initiatives and growth in all four campuses, an official ceremonial blessing and ribbon-cutting event for the new entrance gate of Sorsogon State University – Bulan Campus was held on February 29, 2023, at the SorSU Bulan Campus, Zone-8 Bulan, Sorsogon.
A holy mass, officiated by the Parish Priest of Bulan, formally began the blessing ceremony, which was subsequently followed by the ribbon-cutting activity, headed by SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, together with SorSU top executives — Vice Presidents: Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (VPAA) & Dr. Ryan V. Dio (VPRET); Campus Directors: Prof. Elena C. Demdam (Campus Director, Bulan Campus), Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, Sorsogon City Campus), & Prof. Andrew F. Detera (Campus Director, Castilla Campus), and Mr. Joey D. Guban.
Prof. Ma. Elena C. Demdam (Campus Director, SorSU Bulan Campus), in her welcome remarks, highlighted that the momentous occasion is a testament to SorSU Bulan Campus’ commitment to growth, progress, and the continuous pursuit of excellence, adding that the new entrance gate not only welcomes individuals into the campus’ physical space but also invites them into a world of possibilities and opportunities.
“Our new entrance gate tends not only as a physical structure but a symbolic gateway to knowledge, opportunity, and a brighter future. It is a reflection of the dedication and hard work of our University community — a community that thrives on innovation, embraces change, and values the pursuit of education.”
“As we cut the ribbon and bless this new gateway, let us remember the countless journeys it will witness. The students who will walk through its arcs with dreams in their hearts, the faculty members and staff who will guide and inspire, and the visitors and stakeholders who will contribute to the vibrancy and progress of our academic community.”
Meanwhile, SorSU President De Jesus also delivered a message to SorSU-Bulanenos, reiterating her administration’s commitment that no campus should be left behind along with academic opportunities and advancements.
“Kung ano po ang meron sa Main Campus, dapat po lahat ng campuses ay magkaroon din. I invited the students here because this is for you, not for us. Today is a celebration not for us but for you. You are the reason why we are here, so we are giving you this with open arms.”
“Sa gate pa lang na bago na yan, kung gaano man yan kaganda, yan ay nagsisimbolo kung ano ang meron tayo sa Bulan Campus.”
Additionally, the awarding of winners of the painting contest of the New Administration Building of SorSU-Bulan Campus was likewise held during the event.
Such a notable milestone is a prime reflection of the SorSU administration’s inclusive and progressive approach to equipping the four campuses — including the Bulan Campus — with equal access to resources, opportunities, and project developments as a top priority, seeking to cultivate an academic community where each member can thrive and, at the same time, contribute to the institution’s shared goal of unreservedly serving its stakeholders.
