Sorsogon State University Castilla Campus has officially welcomed a vibrant addition to its community with the establishment of Lead4Green, a brand-new 4-H club organization. The club marked a major milestone recently by hosting its second orientation and accreditation event for the municipality of Castilla at the Farmers Training Center Hall (FTC), signaling a renewed commitment to youth development and community impact.
The event, which began with an opening prayer and the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, focused on preparing the new members to take on their roles as active participants in the long-standing 4-H tradition.
The cornerstone of the orientation was a comprehensive presentation delivered by the resource speaker, Ms. Maria Judith Nedia. As the municipal 4-H coordinator and a proud alumna of Sorsogon State University Castilla Campus, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, major in Animal Science, Ms. Nedia brought both expertise and personal experience to the table.
Her presentation provided the aspiring members with a thorough grounding in the organization’s core principles, covering the history, vision, and mission of the 4-H Club in the Philippines. The diverse projects, activities, and opportunities available to them at the municipal, provincial, and national levels. A clear outline of the roles, responsibilities, and benefits of active 4-H membership and finally a practical, step-by-step guidance on initiating and managing successful 4-H community projects.
Following Ms. Nedia’s informative session, the newly formed organization’s officers took the floor to present the Constitutions and By-Laws (CBL) and the forthcoming calendar of activities. This administrative step officially formalizes Lead4Green’s structure and outlines a clear path for its operations.
This successful orientation and accreditation is more than just a procedural necessity; it is a significant milestone that formally recognizes the vital role the 4-H organization will play on campus and within the broader community. Lead4Green embodies a renewed hope and a fresh perspective for initiating meaningful efforts and activities that promise to positively impact communities and their people. The club is now poised to become a driving force for positive change, channeling the energy and innovation of the student body into tangible community benefits.
