With hearts full of enthusiasm and a spirit of preparedness, the fourth-year students of the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Major in Agricultural Education (BSA AgEd) and Bachelor of Agricultural Technology (BAT) programs participated in a meaningful preparatory seminar held on November 6, 2025.
The activity was thoughtfully organized by the Gender and Development (GAD) Office in collaboration with the Guidance and Counseling Services Unit. It focused on important topics such as R.A. 7877 (Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995), R.A. 11313 (Safe Spaces Act), Managing Stress, and Separation Anxiety. The seminar was especially designed for the BSA AgEd students who are about to begin their practice teaching and for the BAT students who will soon start their on-the-job training (OJT).
The event began with an uplifting message from Castilla Campus Director Prof. Andrew F. Detera, who warmly encouraged the students to embrace every opportunity for learning and growth. He shared thoughtful reminders that education continues beyond the classroom and that each experience contributes to the shaping of one’s character and future.
The session continued with Ms. Mary Ann J. Jintalan, Head of SorSU Guidance and Counseling Services Unit, who delivered an engaging talk on managing stress, coping with separation anxiety, and nurturing healthy relationships in the workplace. Through her insightful discussion and interactive group activities, students discovered meaningful ways to care for their well-being, support one another, and build a harmonious environment wherever they go.
Adding depth to the seminar, Mr. Albert R. Acuna, SorSU Castilla Gender and Development Coordinator, shared valuable insights on R.A. 7877 (Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995) and R.A. 11313 (Safe Spaces Act). His presentation highlighted the importance of respect, kindness, and dignity in every professional space. By learning about these laws, students gained a deeper appreciation of their role in promoting safety, equality, and understanding within their future workplaces.
