The much-awaited Pasinaya 2025, hosted by the Cultural Center of the Philippines, kicked off in Sorsogon on February 1 with a vibrant celebration of local talent and creativity under the theme “Pasinaya Para sa Lahat.” The event brought together students from various schools across the province to showcase their skills in music, dance, and theater.
On the first day, performances took place at Sorsogon State University (SorSU), where rondalla groups from the region, including Kiblit De Sorsogon (composed of SDO Sorsogon Province Rondalla, SorSU Instrumentos de Cordo, Bulan National High School Rondalla, and Instrumentos de Cuerda de San Vicente Elementary School) and the Sorsogon East Central School Rondalla, enchanted audiences at the SorSU Audio Visual Hall. The event also featured dynamic dance and musical performances, such as the “Pinakulan: An Istorya ni Bitan-o asin Dalipay” and “Pantomina,” performed by the SorSU Dance Theater and Cultural Group (DTCG) and SorSU Instrumentos de Cordo. The day concluded with a screening of Ta(y)ong Dalawa: Indak sa Saliw ng Pusong Umiibig, showcasing courtship dances from Samar and South Cotabato.
Day 2, February 2, continued the celebration at SorSU’s Social Hall and AV Hall with various performances: Bulan’s Tabsing Kolektib presented Nihil Timendum Est, a play about fraternity violence; students from UST-Legazpi performed Madre Tierra, a neo-ethnic musical about nature’s struggles; and Tabaco National High School’s original play, Oragon, Sarung Musical, honoring Bicolano heroes and the “oragon” spirit. Music performances added to the day’s festivities, with the Himig Sorsuenos choir, led by Choirmaster and Artistic Director Edwin Balgemino, captivating the audience with songs like “Da Coconut Nut”, “Liwanag sa Dilim”, “Imagine” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” The UST-Legazpi Chorale, Pilar National Comprehensive High School chordophone ensemble, and the Yellow Woods Children’s Choir also performed.
The Pasinaya 2025 event successfully highlighted the rich arts and culture of Sorsogon, leaving a lasting impact on the community and showcasing the province’s vibrant creativity. (SorSU PIO)
