Strengthening institutional partnerships and advancing strategic initiatives, Sorsogon State University President Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus paid a courtesy visit to Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis on February 20, 2026, at the CHED Central Office. She was joined by DEBESMSCAT President Dr. Arnel B. Millesca, reaffirming the collaborative spirit among State Universities and Colleges (SUCs).
During the visit, Dr. De Jesus formally received the ICONS Plaque awarded to SorSU from Dr. Christine N. Ferrer, Executive Director of the International Affairs Service, a recognition that highlights the University’s growing footprint in internationalization and institutional excellence.
President De Jesus likewise met with Dr. Jimmy G. Catanes, Director of the Office of Programs and Standards Development, Atty. Septon A. De la Cruz, Executive Director of UniFAST, and Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) and Batangas State University President Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo to explore strengthened collaboration in advancing academic quality standards and expanding student access to higher education opportunities.
In a separate meeting, President De Jesus conferred with CHED Commissioner and SorSU Board of Regents Chair Designate Dr. Ricmar P. Aquino regarding key matters in preparation for the upcoming Board of Regents agenda for the second quarter.
The series of courtesy visits underscores President De Jesus’ proactive leadership in aligning SorSU’s strategic directions with national higher education priorities.
