The Pili Roadmap

Sorsogon State University crafted a roadmap that will align all its efforts to illustrate high-level product strategy and demonstrate how Pili production and its by-products will evolve over time. Active involvement and participation of all stakeholders including the national government agencies, local government units, non-/government organizations (N/GOs), academe, and value chain players from the local to the international level are solicited as a strong strategic intervention of this roadmap.

Pili is considered to be the “tree of hope” and has been a valuable commodity in the country because of its many uses which can be derived from all its parts. A number of studies have shown that there are a number of industrial, commercial, environmental and nutritional values that can be obtained from its roots, trunks, branches, leaves, saps and fruits.

The Pili Roadmap is anchored and supports the House Bill No. 7403 which seeks the recognition of Sorsogon as the Pili capital of the Philippines. It is Expected that all programs and projects reflected in the roadmap will be operationalized at the end of 2025, sustaining Sorsogon’s niche as the top producer of Pili in the world.
