Overview

SorSU conducts a variety of programs, projects, activities, and research initiatives to solidify its aim of eradicating poverty within its capacity. Through its proactive university anti-poverty programs, SorSU aids the livelihoods of local farmers, supports cooperatives and micro, small, and medium enterprises, and implements food technology programs—some of which are designed to alleviate poverty in barangays during the pandemic. The university also launches scholarship programs that provide financial and educational assistance to students from low-income families.

In addition, SorSU has produced several studies aligned with the United Nations’ “No Poverty” goal. The university is committed to helping the community through the outcomes of each study.

Overall, quality education serves as a pivotal means to equip students with essential statistics and knowledge regarding the status of poverty in the country and the world. With this foundation, SorSUenos are determined to create more activities to strengthen the banner of SDG No. 1.
