On October 14, 2024, Sorsogon State University-Career and Job Placement Services and SM City Sorsogon convened for a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing Ceremony at the SorSU Board Room, Sorsogon City Campus. This event marks a crucial partnership aimed at enhancing employment opportunities for students.
The ceremony commenced with Ms. Lelanie L. Berjuega (Head, Career and Placement Services/ILDO Unit), introducing the guests. This was followed by an audio-visual presentation of the university’s achievements and commitment to excellence in education.
Prof. Maria Crisanta M. Jarque (Director, Office of Student Development and Services) delivered the welcome remarks. Arch. Marlo Niko G. Alvarez (Regional Operations Manager- SM Supermalls) also shared an insightful message. A notable aspect he mentioned during the ceremony was that 40% of SM City Sorsogon employees were graduates of Sorsogon State University. This statistic not only reflects the university’s strong educational foundation but also underscores the positive impact its graduates have in the workforce.
SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus followed with a message that articulated the significance of the partnership. She expressed enthusiasm for its potential benefits, emphasizing how this collaboration could create new opportunities for students.
The highlight of the ceremony was the formal signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between Sorsogon State University and SM City Sorsogon. Mr. Ryan C. Servano (Mall Manager-SM City Sorsogon) delivered the closing remarks, expressing gratitude for the partnership and its potential to foster a better future for students.
