The delegation of SorSU-CC consisted of six(6) faculty members teaching crop science subjects and thirty (30) students taking up crop-related courses at the campus. The event took place on September 28, 2023 in Ligao City, Albay, at the DA-PhilRice Bicol Branch Station. With the theme “𝑹𝑪𝑬𝑭, 𝒌𝒂𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒑𝒂𝒚 𝒔𝒂 𝑴𝒂𝑺𝒂𝑮𝒂𝑵𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝒃𝒖𝒉𝒂𝒚!”
The Lakbay Palay 2023 provided an avenue for the exchange of ideas and experiences concerning the rice industry’s current and emerging problems.
The activity was notable for highlighting the following:
1. Rice production technologies and agricultural techniques that are climate-smart, cost-effective, and yield-enhancing for hybrid rice varieties;
2. Knowledge-sharing and learning activities on rice cultivation technologies and techniques, and
3. Additional technological advancements in rice-based products in the region.
The participation of the students and members of the faculty was made possible through the efforts of Ma’am Ira M. Habla, Campus Extension and Training Coordinator, Prof. Andrew F. Detera, SorSU-CC Campus Director, and his vision of providing quality education through hands-on experience to the students, as well as the continuous support and guidance of Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, Sorsogon State University President, and the faculty and students’ fellowship and solidarity.
