The Sorsogon State University Health Services Unit (SorSU-HSU), in collaboration with the College Red Cross Youth Council (SorSU-CRCYC), successfully organized the Youth Volunteer Formation Course Program from January 24-26, 2025, at the SorSU Social Hall, Sorsogon City Campus. The three-day event aimed to equip young volunteers with a comprehensive understanding of the Red Cross’ humanitarian work and provide practical skills to enhance their effectiveness in volunteer roles.

Day 1 of the event began with an orientation that covered the program’s objectives and camp rules, followed by a Pre-Test and Team Labelling activity.


Day 2 included a series of informative courses:
Course 1: Youth Volunteer Orientation
Topic 1: History of the Red Cross
Topic 2: International Humanitarian Law
Topic 3: The Principles and the Emblems; The 7 Skills under the 7 Principles and Related Values
Topic 4: The Philippine Red Cross
Topic 5: The Red Cross Youth
Course 2: Values Clarification


Day 3 continued with the development of volunteer skills, focusing on teamwork and leadership.


The event culminated with a closing ceremony and graduation, where participants were recognized for completing the course. The Youth Volunteer Formation Course Program helped prepare participants to become active Red Cross volunteers and contribute to their communities.


The Sorsogon State University, under the leadership of SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus continues to provide leadership skills training, helping youth become better prepared for humanitarian efforts through volunteerism and advocacy. (SorSU PIO)
