On March 19, 2025, 456 students from Sorsogon State University (SorSU) were granted financial assistance through the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, which took place at the SorSU covered court, Sorsogon City Campus.
The funding was provided by Hon. Marie Bernadette “Dette” G. Escudero (1st District Representative, Sorsogon Province), who has consistently shown a deep commitment to the educational well-being of students in her constituency. Under this initiative, each qualified student was given Php 5,000 for the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year.
The program underscored Congresswoman Escudero’s steadfast commitment to prioritizing education as an important component of national development. By providing these resources, she ensured that young people have the financial support they need to succeed both academically and professionally.
SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, and the entire SorSU community were grateful for this timely intervention and expressed their appreciation to Congresswoman Escudero for her continued efforts to support the educational needs of the students. (SorSU PIO)
