Sorsogon State University (SorSU), through its Office of Extension and Training, together with Bicol University (BU), conducted an orientation on impact evaluation for extension programs on August 4, 2025, at SorSU Dormtel, Sorsogon City.

The event began with a welcome message from Dr. Ana Cristina G. Fortes (Director, Extension and Training Services), followed by opening remarks from Dr. Ryan V. Dio (VP for Research, Extension and Training).

Prof. Riza Garcia presented the initial report on the livelihood impact of the Extension Project 3MRI, while Prof. Mark M. Gatos shared preliminary findings on its social impact. Further updates were given on ongoing impact evaluations. Dr. Ana Cristina G. Fortes reported on the progress of the BU extension project “Kapatid,” and Dr. Ryan V. Dio gave an update on the evaluation of the BU extension project “E-trabaho.”

Rounding out the orientation, Dr. Perry F. Carpio (President, Faculty Association & Manager SorSU TESDA Center), Ms. Caridad Ferreras, and Mr. Benjamin L. Ambrose gave an overview of SorSU’s various Extension Projects.

Among those present during the orientation were Dr. Marcia Corazon P. Rico (Director, Extension Management Division-BU), Dr. Elmer A. Lorenzana (Director, Research Development and Management Division-BU), Arch. Ana M. Lorilla, and Engr. John Raymond Barajas.
This collaborative effort between SorSU and BU demonstrates a joint commitment to enhancing accountability in extension work and ensuring that programs remain relevant and effective in addressing community needs. (SorSU PIO)
