SorSU-BC Staff, Students join BSKE Unity Rally, Interfaith prayer; signs peace covenant with community leaders

Aligned with its core value of social responsibility, Sorsogon State University – Bulan Campus administration, teaching and non-teaching, and students joined the 2023 Barangay & Sangguniang Kabataan Elections Unity Rally, Interfaith Prayer and Peace Covenant Signing today, September 26, 2023, at the campus grounds.

The activity was initiated by the Commission on Elections – Bulan, together with the Local Government Unit, religious organizations, and other major government and non-government arms towards promoting fair and peaceful election. Candidates for the 2023 BSKE also joined the event, signifying their commitment towards a clean, honest and peaceful election.

In her message, Prof. Demdam emphasized the University’s commitment towards contributing to the development of the community, and recognized the election as among the most significant events in embodying democracy.

“Our commitment to social responsibility is unwavering. We believe that the foundation of a strong democracy lies in active and informed citizenry. Thus, we are committed to promoting voter education and responsible voting among the residents of the Municipality of Bulan.”

The peace covenant was signed, not just by the BSKE candidates, but also by the community stakeholders, including the faculty, staff and students of SorSU-Bulan Campus which symbolizes their full involvement in making the BSKE 2023 a successful expression of the nation’s living democracy.

Voter information materials were also distributed during the event, optimizing it as an opportunity not just to inform the candidates, but also to educate the voters. Before the event at the SorSU-Bulan Campus grounds, a parade around the town center was conducted in an effort to ensure that the message of clean, honest and peaceful elections resonates to the Bulaneno community.
