SorSU-Bulan Campus BS Entrep students seize 1st Place in 2024 RYEC Business Pitching Competition in Pili, CamSur

Triumphing over seven other entries from various colleges and state universities in the Bicol Region, fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship students from Sorsogon State University – Bulan Campus namely, Ria H. Absalon, Richard Orticio, and Erica B. Mendez, collectively known as Amego Business, remarkably bagged 1st Place in the Business Pitching Competition during the 10th Regional Youth Entrepreneurship Congress (RYEC), where they received a total cash prize of P20,000.00, last October 4, 2024, at the Fuerte Camsur Sports Complex, Pili, Camarines Sur.

A panel of investors from the Camarines Sur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CSCCI) reviewed SorSU-Bulan Campus team’s business pitch and presentation, where the student-entrepreneurs showcased the Bilimbi powder as its product. In reference, Bilimbi Powder, an all-natural souring component, can be used as a seasoning for dishes like sinigang, paksiw, lugaw, etc. (The Freethinker, 2024), which is made from bilimbi fruit, commonly referred to as ‘kamias’.

The Amego Business is likewise composed of two other proponents — Janela Gelilio and Howard Espiritu. Further, this marks SorSU-Bulan Campus’ second time in winning the award; its representatives from last year’s Sorsogon Research, Development & Extension Conference (SoRDECon) Technology Business Pitching (2023) also emerged victorious as the Best Pitch Awardee.

The University commends the proponents of Amego Business — Ria, Richard, Erica, Janela, and Howard — for their innovative and successful academic achievement. SorSU also extends its warm congratulations to the team’s mentors: Mr. Glorianne Delmonte, Mr. Santos Gigantoca Jr., Ms. Abegail Arimbay-Fulgar, & Dr. Diana V. Sales, and the entire SorSU-Bulan Campus. (SorSU PIO)
