As part of the University’s steadfast commitment to providing the highest standard of quality education and relentless pursuit of continuous improvement of its services, Sorsogon State University (SorSU) is presently undergoing a three-day Level III Phase II Online Program Accreditation for its two (2) academic programs under Bulan Campus namely, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) and Bachelor in Public Administration (BPA), conducted by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), headed by Dr. Ronnie R. Parica (AACCUP, Inc. Coordinator/Lead Accreditor), from August 5-7, 2024, which commenced via hybrid platform at the Audio-Visual Room, SorSU-Bulan Campus (for in-person) and online through Zoom Meeting.
Through a video presentation, SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, formally began the three-day online program accreditation with welcome remarks, underscoring the importance of providing the University’s collective full cooperation and assistance to Dr. Parica and the AACCUP team during the process so that in turn they will be able to assist the institution in improving the above-mentioned programs, which will eventually bear long-term benefits for SorSU.
SorSU President De Jesus added, “Thus, with the help of AACCUP and through the combined efforts of our administration and personnel, I ask all of you to work together to meet this present and future challenges for the advancement of our Pamantasang May Puso.”
Subsequently, the President’s welcome message was followed by the Presentations of University Key Officials & Unit Heads through AVP, delivered by Dr. Leny D. Berdin (Chief Administrative Officer-Finance Division), Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (Vice President for Academic Affairs), and Dr. Ryan V. Dio (Vice President for Research, Extension and Training), respectively. Meanwhile, the Presentation of Campus Officials & Task Force was provided by Prof. Ma. Elena C. Demdam (Campus Director, Bulan Campus).
On the other hand, Dr. Ronnie R. Parica (AACCUP, Inc. Coordinator/Team Leader), from the University of Rizal System, discussed the statement of purpose and overview of the event, emphasizing that the entire AACCUP team is committed to objectively evaluate the programs under evaluation as well as provide helpful and doable recommendations to achieve quality and excellence.
The esteemed Panel of AACCUP, Inc. Accreditors is composed of Dr. Menchie A. Dela Cruz (AACCUP Team Leader) and Prof. Julius A. Sareno (AACCUP Lead Accreditor) for BSCS Program; Dr. Florenda S. Frivaldo (AACCUP Team Leader) and Dr. Ronnie R. Parica (AACCUP Lead Accreditor) for BPA Program; and Dr. Liza M. Tamargo (Librarian Accreditor) for both programs.
The orientation meeting on the accreditation and validation activities by the AACCUP, Inc. Coordinator/Team Leader was held after the opening program. The three-day survey visit also includes seminar proper and Q & A, perusal of documents and validation, as well as validation activities and report preparation.
An intermission performance of folk and pop music from SorSU Instrumentos de Cordo via AVP was also presented, which entertained the virtual attendees during the opening program. (SorSU PIO)
