Sorsogon State University – Career and Job Placement Services Unit, headed by Prof. Lelanie L. Berjuega, in coordination with Guidance and Counseling Services Unit headed by Ms. Mary Ann J. Jintalan, RGC, successfully conducted a CAREER GUIDANCE DAY to all prospective OJT trainee-students from December 5-6, 2023, at SorSU Audio-Visual Hall, Sorsogon City Campus.
The two-day career guidance activity is designed to equip OJT-bound students with essential insights and practical knowledge, including job application preparation, workplace awareness & readiness, and various aspects of career opportunities.
The morning session for the first day was composed of talk sessions on “𝘕𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: 𝘓𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘳 𝘓𝘢𝘸𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘌𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘖𝘳𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘻𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴” by Mr. Russell Ulysses I. Nieves (Senior LEO, Department of Labor and Employment) and “𝘍𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘰 𝘎𝘭𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘭 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘯𝘴: 𝘔𝘪𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘳 𝘖𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘛𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺’𝘴 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥” by Atty. Francis Bagalayos Bagay (OFW Legal Adviser, Department of Migrant Workers Regional Office V) and Mr. Melvin Hate, whereas the afternoon event covered the topic of “𝘌𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘺𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘖𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵” by Prof. Abner L. Dellosa, RGC (Head, SorSU HRMDO).
Meanwhile, Day 2’s morning activity featured a discussion on “𝘌𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦: 𝘛𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘳𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘗𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘚𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭𝘴” for education students by Mr. Kenneth A. Golimlim (Administrative Officer IV HRMO, Department of Education). The afternoon session highlighted the talk session on “𝘊𝘳𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘰 𝘚𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴: 𝘔𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘦 𝘞𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘦𝘴,” including 𝘑𝘰𝘣 𝘈𝘱𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘜𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘦𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘬 by Mr. Kim Chua (Managing Director, JOBS180) and 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸 𝘛𝘪𝘱𝘴 by Ms. Via Joyce Aringoy via virtual platform. Further, Mr. Mikko S. Guardian (Coordinator, Guidance and Counseling Services Unit) gave the closing remarks on behalf of Prof. Lelanie L. Berjuega (Head, SorSU Career and Job Placement Services/ILDO).
The two-day seminar also included psychological examinations for incoming OJT students as scheduled per batch, conducted on December 5 and 6, 2023, after the talk sessions. Moreover, the event was also facilitated and assisted by SorSU Peer Facilitators Organization. (SorSU PIO)
