As part of the administration’s proactive commitment to providing equal opportunities and developments across all SorSU campuses, Sorsogon State University – Castilla Campus (SorSU-CC) formally held a ceremonial blessing and ribbon-cutting for its newly-constructed SorSU-CC entrance gate today, February 29, 2024, at the SorSU-Castilla Campus Grounds, Castilla, Sorsogon.
The blessing ceremony commenced with a holy mass officiated by the Parish Priest of Castilla, followed by a welcome message from Prof. Andrew F. Detera (Campus Director, SorSU-CC), emphasizing that today’s endeavor exhibits the commitment of SorSU to continual improvement. Prof. Detera additionally remarked that the notable milestone reflects the University’s pursuit of serving and growing alongside its community partners, including Barangay Mayon, the Municipality of Castilla, and the Province of Sorsogon, which are symbolically embodied on the entrance gate.
Similarly, SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, in her message, highlighted her administration’s unwavering dedication to ensuring that all campuses are provided with the same opportunities and initiatives along with projects and developments, signifying the administration’s goal of fostering inclusivity and progress throughout the entire University.
“Immediately when I assumed the position as the SUC President of SorSU during our first board meeting, nilatag ko na po ito — ang tatlong gate[s] ng Bulan Campus, Castilla, and Magallanes. At naisakatuparan po ngayon after one and a half years.”
“This is just a manifestation of what I promised you last year na kung anuman ang meron sa Main Campus, lahat ay magkakaroon. Walang maiiwan.”
SorSU President De Jesus also shared with the attendees the numerous good news of the administration for the SorSU-Castilla Campus, asserting that all these will happen this year. Infrastructure projects mentioned by Pres. De Jesus are the new administration building worth P30 million and the Pili Research Center worth 30 million, both through the efforts of Cong. Dette Escudero. Also mentioned are the Bamboo Research Center worth P5 million (SorSU fund), the new covered court to be sponsored by Ang Probinsiyano Party-list Representative, Hon. Alfred Delos Santos and another project to be sponsored by the Department of Agriculture – Research & Development.
She concluded her message with a quotation from Mother Teresa, “I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot; together we can do greater things.”
Prior to the ribbon-cutting, Mr. Arnel Arias, a representative of SorSU-CC Alumni, likewise delivered a message to the SorSU-CC community.
Led by SorSU President De Jesus, the ribbon-cutting ceremony was also joined by SorSU key officials and guests. The ceremonial activity culminated with a closing message from Ms. Reynalda Duana (AO-V).
In attendance during this meaningful undertaking were SorSU Vice Presidents: Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (VPAA) & Dr. Ryan V. Dio (VPRET), Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, Sorsogon City Campus), staff directors, and other SorSU key officials & personnel.
As SorSU continues to strive for continual improvement and advancement, this ceremony exemplifies a significant step toward a shared goal of meeting the ever-evolving needs of its students, faculty, and personnel while at the same time continually enhancing its overall competence to serve its clientele as a beacon of excellence.
