SorSU celebrates university-wide Christmas Party — employees showcase engaging presentations, win various Christmas raffle draw prizes

Donned in their red shirts, Sorsogon State University (SorSU) teaching and non-teaching personnel across four campuses gathered together and celebrated university-wide Christmas Party: Year-end Activity Promoting Gender Inclusivity in the Workplace on December 2 Bulan Campus, Castilla Campus, Magallanes Campus, College of Business and Management, College of Teacher Education and Midwifery, College of Technology, College of Engineering and Architecture, and Non-Teaching Personnel, as well as various Christmas raffle draw prizes.

Bannering the theme: “Handog Pasasalamat: Mula sa Pamantasang May Puso at Tapat,” Puso at Tapat,” the gathering began with opening remarks from SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, wherein President De Jesus expressed her profound gratitude to the administration, vice presidents, campus directors, deans, program chairs, key officials, and all the employees for their hard work and commitment toward the continued success and accomplishments of the University. She emphasized, “We are here not to be served, but to serve. Let us all continue doing that… yan po ang tatak ng isang Pamantasang May Puso.”

Following the message of President De Jesus was the Christmas performances of different campuses and colleges, wherein raffle draws were held in between presentations, headed by President De Jesus, together with Mr. Gerald E. Fulay (Vice President for Administration and Finance), Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (Vice President for Academic Affairs), and Dr. Ryan V. Dio (Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training).

Meanwhile, as part of the year-end activity, Atty. Mary Joy C. Bongapat (Acting Board Secretary) discussed a talk session on RA 9262: Understanding Rights of Women and Children, equipping employees with in-depth information on dealing effectively with harassment and other related incidents, as well as prevention of such occurrences.

Engr. Sandro B. Noguera (Provincial S & T Director, DOST-PSTO Sorsogon) also graced the event as one of the distinguished judges for the Christmas presentation, in which the College of Technology (COT) and College of Engineering & Architecture (COEA) bagged the 3rd and 2nd Places, respectively. Notably, the College of Teacher Education and Midwifery (CoTEdM) clinched this year’s championship for Christmas presentation.

Further, Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (Vice President for Academic Affairs) gave the closing remarks.
